What's my niche?
A niche is a specific kid of design made for a specific kind of person. Finding and having a niche is important when owning a business. Niches center the message and marketing strategies to a precise target audience.
I consider myself to be a UX / product designer. I am a learner and problem-solver. My curiosity challenges me to explore different ideas, learn new skills and solve design problems to improve peoples lives. I like to understand peoples behaviors, study their needs, and look at how they interact with their surrounding environment. If someone is experiencing a problem, I enjoy working with different disciplines to analyze the situation, break down the issue to its core, and find an accessible solution.
I have a passion for creating powerful experiences to share with people. I am intrigued by the human-computer interaction. I enjoy working with a variety of new technology mediums; such as web, mobile, voice, augmented and virtual reality platforms. In todays age the technology field is growing and constantly developing. As a designer I need to keep up with the changes and advance my skills. The future in which the tech field is moving towards amazes me.
My style can be explained by simplified design. I like taking complicated concepts and making them simple though visuals. It is important for design to be simple because it intents and messages communicated cannot be ambiguous and needs to be understood by the user. "Less is best", do not overwhelmed the design with many gadgets. Simple design allows the user to concentrate on the important elements.
Though my work i want to challenge overlooked social issues. There are many groups who's issues are not "seen" ad problems because it would not be profitable within the marketplace. For example, bridging the communication gap between individuals that know sign language and the ones that do not. I aim to improve peoples lives by solving one problem at the time. My designs unlock accessible solutions for future generations to experience.
Most of my work involves the user to interact with new technology, therefore my user needs to be flexible and have a basic understanding of the devices. I would define my customers as the middle-class millennial. People within this niche will have access to the upcoming tech devices and have the ability to navigate the platforms. Furthermore, this upcoming generation will face a new set of challenges that will need me to solve.
My values:
Curiosity – be curious! Curiosity is what challenges me to explore different ideas, constantly learn new skills, and find innovative ways to solve design problems.
Innovation – I don't want to be limited to what I can use at the moment. My work is dynamic, future thinking and open to introduce new products into my projects.
Inspiring – I look at what is around me. I am inspired by the ideas that designers share and problems that people experience. I also want to use my work to inspire others.
